Litigation Paralegal!
R & W Group is recruiting on behalf of our large law firm client in DC for a Litigation Paralegal who will assist the firm’s attorneys by working on all aspects of large scale, complex litigation, including assisting with research, drafting documents, preparing filings, and other tasks, primarily within the Products Liability group. The position will require overtime and may involve some travel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Full understanding of litigation motion practice, discovery, trial and appellate procedures
Administratively manage all phases of litigation case
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines
Ensure expertise in technology relevant to the position; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service and efficiency
Manage electronic and hard copy documents using Firm and client specific technology
Prepare deposition notices and subpoenas; organize, maintain and prepare deposition materials, exhibits and summaries; track depositions
Preparation for fact and expert witness depositions
Coordinate and manage large scale document collection and production
Bluebook, cite check, and proofread briefs
Thorough understanding of court rules and filing requirements
Knowledge of Lexis-Nexis, Westlaw and internet search engines
Knowledge of Pacer and ECF filing procedures; draft and prepare documents for service and e-filing in federal jurisdictions
Experience with eDiscovery software including Relativity, Case Notebook, Trial Director and Adobe Professional
Trial preparation and attendance
Delegate to, and oversee the work of, Project Assistants and temporary staff
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with clients, Partners, Associates, Legal Assistants and all staff members
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Other tasks as requested/assigned by an Attorney or team member
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
Required:
BA/BS with strong academic credentials
Minimum four years of paralegal experience
Previous experience in a law firm
Proficient at Microsoft Office applications and eDiscovery software
Preferred:
Writing sample submitted with resume
Paralegal Certificate from an ABA accredited program
MDL or Life Sciences Background
Mass Tort Experience
Sensitivity to Medical Records
Large case management background
